Firs Hill School Travel Plan (STP)

We are currently pursuing the Health and Well-Being Theme of the Healthy Schools Initiative. Our aims for the School Travel Plan are to implement road safety awareness and improve the health and well being of pupils and parents. We hope that combining our Healthy Schools Theme with our School Travel Plan will allow us to effectively achieve our aims, not just amongst our pupils and parents, but also the wider Burngreave community. As a school we are committed to embracing the notion of a full service extended school

Objectives

  1. To maintain and improve on our good level of road safety education for our children and their families
  2. To reduce the number of children coming to school by car.
  3. To improve the safety of children immediately outside the school entrance.
  4. To increase the amount of daily physical activity children take part in.

Targets

  1. To increase the number of lessons on road safety to children by 40% by Summer 2007
  2. To increase the number of lessons on road safety to adults by 30% by Summer 2007
  3. To reduce the number of children travelling by car from 22% to 19% by Summer 2007
  4. To reduce the number of cars parking on the school Keep Clear lines to 10 by the end of Autumn term 2006.
  5. To improve the percentage of children walking to and from school from 77% to 80% by Summer 2007.
  6. To increase the number of number of children cycling from 0 to 5 (as a consistent figure) by Summer 2007.
